Abstract
The study was conducted to analyze an epidemic outbreak of group paragonimiasis.Epidemiologic investigation and laboratory testing were performed for sixteen patients and related people.A total of eighteen subjects had eaten wine preserved crabs, sixteen manifesting abdominal distention, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever and general discomfort in a period of time, from a few hours to one week.Sera samples were collected from fifteen victims (one whose serum could not be collected due to transfer to other hospital), paragonimiasis antibody test performed using ELISA.The result suggested one case of strongly positive, two of positive and two weakly positive.In view of the medical history, clinical symptoms and laboratory test results, the event of group paragonimiasis involving sixteen victims was confirmed.
